Our History 1968 - 2002
In 1968, John Skeans opened his first business downtown Vancouver on Howe St. With his operating partner Mr. Cliff Moore and an investor Mr. Robert Crosby, the trio started what is now a 58 year legacy in Pneumatic Industrial supply. The vision was to provide total compressed air products supply for customers in British Columbia. Having sold locally manufactured sawmill equipment, they saw the need for local cylinder manufacturing and product distribution through sub-distributors in ten cities throughout B.C.
His motto was:
“Make it easy for the customer to do business”
Headquarters 2003 - 2025
Moving from our original headquarters in 2003, we relocated to Coquitlam a suburb outside Vancouver to better service our customers and our staff. During this period we opened a new branch location in Saskatoon, SK and our Kamloops, BC location became a full fledged branch, not just a service center. The 2nd generation of SKEANS retired and handed the reins over to the 3rd.

Where we Are Today 2025+
Today, 58 years from our start, the SKEANS family has grown to over 70 team members. We all strive to live up to Mr. Skeans’ legacy daily. We are proud to serve our customers with three main product groups, Rotating Equipment Solutions, Pneumatic Automation Solutions, and Electric Automation Solutions. We connect Automation with Customer driven Innovation.

In 1968, Chad’s grandfather John A. Skeans had a dream to provide “total compressed air products supply” in Western Canada. He partnered up with the best pneumatic product manufacturers, and we still foster many of those valued partnerships today. Mr. Skeans built the SKEANS legacy with his three sons Chris, Tony, and Tim, who joined and grew the business through the years. They added their unique talents and experience to help grow the company to seven branches across Western Canada. With our committed team, we’re providing compressed air and automation solutions for industry by offering exceptional customer service and using a systems approach, from generation to actuation.
Today, over 50 years later, we’re very proud to continue this family business as a third-generation owner and a 20+ year SKEANS veteran. With our solid leadership team and loyal SKEANS teammates, we will continue supporting our customers offering unique products and solutions to a wide range of industries from our three product groups: Rotating Equipment, Pneumatic Automation, and Electric Automation Solutions.
We’re ready for this next chapter in SKEANS’ history.
